We respect your right to control your personal data. Here is exactly how to remove your Self account and everything in it.

How to delete your account

Two ways. No hidden hoops.

Delete it in the app.

Open Self and tap Profile, then the gear icon in the top-right corner. Go to Settings → Account Settings and, under Danger zone, tap Delete Account. You will confirm twice and sign in again with Apple or Google. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone or cancelled.

Or email us instead.

If you can no longer sign in, write to support from your account address with the subject “Delete My Account.” We verify the request by hand and permanently remove your account and associated data within 30 days. The in-app route above is immediate, so use this one only if you cannot reach it.

What gets deleted

Everything connected to your account.

Saved ideas, captured highlights, and notes.

Actions & progress

Your actions, streaks, and Proof of Growth.

Insights & settings

Growth Insights and app preferences.

Subscription record

Whether Self+ was active, and when it expired. We hold no payment or billing details — those stay with Apple or Google.

Before you delete

  • Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once completed, your data cannot be recovered.
  • Cancel any active subscription first to avoid further charges:
    • iOS — Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Self: Read to Rise → Cancel.
    • Android — Google Play → your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Self: Read to Rise → Cancel.
  • One thing is kept on purpose: if you used your one free personalised action, we keep a one-way hash of your email address for 12 months, so the free offer cannot be claimed again by re-registering. It cannot be read back as your address, and it is deleted automatically once the 12 months are up. A few other things survive deletion for a limited time — a short-lived tombstone, 30-day server logs, crash reports, and content already sent to our AI provider — all listed in our Privacy Policy. We may also retain limited data where the law requires it, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Deleting your Self account does not cancel your subscription and does not reach Apple's or Google's billing records — cancel in the store first, as above.
